This dataset contains images and analysis used to quantify the number of neurons per ganglia, size and density of myenteric and submucosal ganglia in the rat gastric fundus, corpus and antrum.
The dataset consists of photomicrographs of the individual ganglia traversed by each of 54 vagal preganglionic fibers that had previously been fully traced using Neurolucida software.
High resolution 3D confocal images of autonomic neurons and closely opposing synaptic boutons were segmented and analysed to obtain statistics on preganglionic input to immunohistochemically classified lower urinary tract projecting MPG neurons.

Immunohistochemistry revealed the morphology and distribution of nociceptor substance P-immunoreactive (SP-IR) axons and terminals in the muscular, submucosal, and mucosal layers of the antrum, pylorus, and duodenum regions of the mice.
Long read sequencing was used to identify and characterize the isoforms expressed in the human dorsal root ganglion (hDRG). PacBio IsoSeq circular consensus sequencing was used on 3 hDRGs from 3 human organ donors.
Immunohistochemistry revealed the morphology and distribution of nociceptor Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) immunoreactive in the muscular layers (longitudinal muscle, myenteric plexus, and circular muscle) of the mouse stomach.
This dataset maps the relationship between vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) parameters to their immediate neural and cardiac effects in 2 freely moving pigs.

The sensory (nociceptive) innervation of the whole rat heart (including the atria and ventricles) was immunohistochemically labeled for CGRP. Moreover, high-quality images of the whole tissue were acquired at the single-cell/axon/varicosity resolution.

Microinjection of fluorescent nanospheres into either the muscle or mucosal of the stomach in the corpus regions in rats labels distinct populations of nodose neurons
Vagal sensory neurons projecting to either the muscle or mucosal layers of the rat stomach in the fundus, corpus or antrum were identified using localized microinjections retrograde tracer, before being isolated and characterized using RNAseq.
Microinjections of a non-diffusible retrograde tracer were made into the muscle layer or the mucosal layer of the rat stomach in either the antrum or the fundus region. Retrogradely labelled nodose neurons were studied using 3-D confocal microscopy.
